Weavers

sustainability in the supply chain

Zarif sources traditional fabrics from Afghanistan and Central Asia fostering fair-trade practices and the use of natural fibers and dyes. Through this process of weaving we are supporting economic interconnectivity in the region as well as revitalizing connections between Afghanistan's diverse communities.

The process begins in magical Herat, once the main passage on the Silk Road and a historical center for silk production. A beautiful cycle is borne in the silkworm cocooned; reified, spun and transformed into magnificent silk threads. This fine silk is transported to Mazar Sharif, a center for weaving and trade, to be hand dyed and woven into our beautiful “chapan” fabric.
